Do you like saving money? Yes, then keep reading. Do you use tungsten fishing weights? If you do, great, keep reading. If you don’t and like saving money, then stop reading and go look at another one of my posts. So if you are still here, I’m assuming that 1. You like to save money and 2. You already use tungsten fishing weights. This is my next question for you: Where do you get your tungsten? If you didn’t say Motley Fishing , you could be spending a heck of a lot more of your hard earned cash than you need to. Granted, there are some reasons why Motley Fishing tungsten might not be the best choice, but in my opinion, there are very few. Let’s get into it.

I decided to do a price comparison on tungsten flipping weights the other day to make sure I was still getting the best deal. I do this with almost everything I buy from time to time. Companies change their prices all the time so I have to make sure I’m checking around to keep getting the best price. I did the good ole GTS method to get started. I went to my search engine on the browser and typed in “tungsten flipping weights” and hit go! I found some new companies I’ve never heard of before like Joy.Fish and Alley’s Tungsten by searching this way. I also included companies that I’ve either personally used or heard of before. I didn’t include Amazon, Tackle Warehouse, Walmart, Dick’s, or Academy Sports in my results because I feel like you could find most of those places on your own to compare shop.

Before you say it,(“I only buy American-made”), almost all tungsten is actually manufactured in Asia, mostly Russia and China. Good luck finding actual legit tungsten made in the U.S.A. Side note over.

I ended up getting data for 9 different online retailers and throwing it on the spreadsheet below. I included the company names, typical shipping prices (I used my address in Tampa, Fl. to get roundabout rates), weight sizes available from each retailer, and the prices broken down per piece. Some of the results for the calculations ended up looking like 2.3947775, which I just rounded up to 2.40 for simplicity. I don’t factor in tax, but you can figure that out for your local taxes easier than I can. The best deals for each size were marked with an asterisk “*” . If two or more retailers had the same best price, then you’ll see 2 asterisks like this “**”.

Spreadsheet

  1. No retailer had the best price for every size weight.
  2. Not all retailers have the same sizes.
  3. Titan Tungsten and Joy.Fish had the most variety of weight sizes.
  4. Joy.Fish had the cheapest prices for bulk orders and biggest variety of sizes, as long as you spend at least $50, so you get free shipping. (This comes directly from a manufacturer in China, so it will probably take longer to receive in the mail.)
  5. For me, the overall best deal and value for my money is with Motley Fishing . It has the best prices, variety of sizes (that I use) and shipping costs overall. It is located in Wisconsin, which takes about 2–4 days shipping time to get packages to me in Florida. Lastly, it is a small business that has a lot of other good deals on fishing tackle.

Let me know what you think of my comparison. Got a different supplier you think is better? Are you going to change where you buy your tungsten from? Why or why not? If you liked this post, drop me a like or a comment letting me know. Also, please share this with all of your fishing friends. See ya next time.
